Getting Into the Holiday Spirit With 5 Great Drink Recipes

I don’t know about you, but having the names of drinks other than “Cosmo” or “White Zin” in my arsenal makes me feel more mature. I took the task of figuring out some more involved drinks geared towards the Holidays. I bring you the GrandAm, Poinsettia, Mistletoe Kiss, Frozen Grasshopper, and a Presbyterian.

Holiday Drinks

The GrandAm

GrandAm

1 shot Grand Marnier Liqour
1 shot Amaretto Liquor

A little like caramel without the cream. Smooth and very dangerous.

Poinsettia

Poinsettia

Champagne and cranberry juice garnished with fresh cranberries!

My only remark is “YUM!”

Mistletoe Kiss

Mistletoe Kisses

- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 3/4 oz pineapple juice (I used OJ with Mango)
- 3/4 oz cranberry juice
- 1 oz coconut cream
Garnish: maraschino cherries

Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with maraschino cherries.

I didn’t have the right glass but I still had the right drink. Tropical Christmas, this is very fun.

Frozen Grasshopper

Frozen Grasshopper

3/4 oz green Creme de Menthe
3/4 oz Creme de Cacao
2 cups Vanilla ice cream

Mix all three ingredients together in a blender and blend until drink has the consistency of a good milk shake.

My favorite ice cream flavor is Mint Chocolate Chip, this drink is that exact ice cream in alcohol content. Just try and resist it.

The Presbyterian

Presbyterian

3 oz. Bourbon
Fill with, 1/2 Carbonated Water/Club Soda
Fill with, 1/2 Ginger Ale
1 slice Lemon

Add bourbon and a handful of ice to a highball glass. Fill with equal parts ginger ale and soda.

I’m still a rookie (had never had a liquor cabinet until I signed on for this article) but had a blast trying out these recipes. Mixology is an entirely new genre of being in the kitchen for me; one I’m pretty excited to explore.

Are there any holiday traditional drinks you’ll be enjoying in a few weeks?

Cheers!
