Fall TV Pep Rally!

It’s the hap-, happiest season of AAALLLLLL…!!!

The Fall TV Season is upon us. The starting anew of beloved shows and the genesis of future must-see TV. My remote will be firmly attached to my hand for the next few weeks as the networks roll out my television loves. Get your copy of Entertainment Weekly’s annual “Fall TV Preview” and a highlighter, because it’s every couch potato’s New Year Celebration.

Who’s with me?!

TEE VEE! TEE VEE! TEE VEE!

Blessed be to the TV Gods, our DVRs will be buzzing with joy in the upcoming weeks!

I asked the other Curvy Girls what shows they were excited to see return and if there were any new ones coming along they were going to check out. Let it be said that Heather Spohr and I watch more TV than all of the other girls combined, so it’s a given that we’ll be watching most of these shows. Katie, Nanette, and Greis are also big-time TVidiots, so you can catch them watching a good part of this list. Or, at least the good ones.

Modern Family Goes Vintage

Returning TV Shows (with my personal TV-addict commentary)

Boardwalk Empire (Coming back with a bang in September on HBO) – Audrey

Modern Family (If you don’t watch this show, this is me ending our friendship.) – Emily, Allison, Kelly, Katie, Brittany

Grey’s Anatomy (Yes, I’ll watch and cry, but I’ll complain that it’s way angsty.) – Greis, Daisy, Katie

Private Practice (Don’t watch, no opinion.)- Greis

Gossip Girl (I’m not 19, so I don’t watch.) – Heather B and Brittany (They’re 19)

NCIS (I’m not 55, so I don’t watch.) – Heather B (she’s 55)

Parks & Rec (Ron Swanson RETURNS)- Ali, Kelly, Nanette and Brittany

Community (Any show with Ken Jeong is a show I will watch.) – Ali and Brittany

30 Rock (Liz Lemon RETURNS) – Heather B, Nanette and Brittany

The Office (I’m both excited and nervous to see how the show will be without Michael Scott.) – Heather B, Meghan, Nanette and Brittany

Glee (No more Chord Overstreet? They better have a Lady Gaga episode every other week to make up for it.) – Daisy and Brittany (Brittany hates Chord Overstreet)

Justified (I watched the first season. meh)- Daisy

“FOOTBALL” (*GRUNT*) – Katie and Brittany

90210 (I watched it back in 1994 when it was good.) – Nanette, Greis

Happy Endings (I haven’t seen this one, but I’ve heard it’s good. I may have to watch this season.) – Meghan, Tena and Brittany

Chopped Champions (Uhm. No thanks.) – Katie (she asks you not to judge her)

Sons of Anarchy (Sweet cheesus, how can no one else watch Jax and his abs?)- Angie

Criminal Minds (I’m at a loss at how this is a good show.) – Jen, Daisy, Allison (hopes she doesn’t grow up to be a serial killer because she loves all crime shows)

New Shows!

That Christina Applegate show (Up All Night) (I’ll watch anything with Will Arnet.) – Greis, Allison, Meghan

The new Zooey Deschanel show (Whatever it’s called, it looks good.) – Greis, Brittany and Nanette (who hopes to be BFF with Zooey Deschanel)

Once Upon A Time (Look interesting, but it could go downhill quickly.) – Jen

Enlightened (Like OUAT, it looks interesting, but we’ll see.) – Ali

Hart of Dixie (I have no idea what show this is. Obviously, I need my copy of EW.) – Ali, Jen

Pan Am (I’ll watch at least the first few.) – Ali, Tena and Brittany

The Playboy Club (I’d be surprised if this makes it past episode 2.) – Tena and Brittany (who don’t want their Woman Cards taken away for listing this one)

RIP

Big Love (I’ll admit – I’ve never watched, but I know I should get the DVDs.)

Brothers & Sisters (Gone too soon.)

What shows are you excited to see return to your TV this Fall?
Are there any new ones you’re going to check out?

Ahem. JUSTIFIED IS AMAZING. WHO IS WITH ME?

Seriously can’t wait for Glee, but I cannot believe I forgot to mention Southland when you were asking. Rizzoli & Isles (can’t wait till it has a normal run time and doesn’t start midway through summer) and Southland are my favorite new shows that just started/are starting season 2.

Justified is starting season 3, so obviously it is no longer a new show. But I can’t *wait* to see what happens.

I watched the first season of Justified and left it there. It’s just… I don’t know.

BUT HOT DAMN, you like Southland, too? It’s only one of my all-time favorite shows that no one else watches. We can watch it together in January!

I forgot to mention Cougar Town. It’s so good and I love how they started a postscript on the title (even THEY realize the title sucks when they finally figured what direction the show would go).

I’ve seen CT a few times, but not a whole show on a consistent basis. I think it’s on opposite 2 other shows I like more. I’ll watch when I can.

Castle and How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory and Chuck (so sad it’s the last season) and The Mentalist and…….I miss ALL the shows I watched last season. I’m looking forward to the new Zooey Deschanel show too….but not much else. *sigh* Is it mid-September yet?

I do love me some Nathan Fillion. Although his sparkle somewhat dimmed when he failed to send The Bloggess a picture of him holding twine…

        BBT – LOVE.

Somehow I MISSED the Bloggess/Nathan Fillion fiasco! Hmmm…..I might have to re-think him as my #1 on my “Laminated List”.

Been re-watching BBT this month and I miss Johnny Galecki. Maybe I’ll see if Roseanne is on Netflix. :)

Katie – I’m with you on Chopped Champions!! :) I’m a Food Network addict. That and some awful TLC shows.

I stopped watching shows that I had to watch weekly to follow the plots because I just don’t watch enough TV during the week. :(

Happy Endings is good! You need to watch it! I can’t wait for HIMYM and of course Chuck. We LOVE Chuck at our house and will be so bummed when it is gone. I am a big fan of Fringe too. I am curious to see what they will do this season. We DVR a ton of shows. I just can’t wait for all of the shows to start. I love some of the new shows too but I hate getting involved with new shows and then they get canceled.

I’m so hesitant to get started in new shows because the networks cancel them so quickly. If shows are on cable networks, I know they’ll show at least a whole season before they cancel.

I am the same way! I get nervous about watching new shows because it is usually the ones that I like that get canceled. There are some great new shows this season but I am afraid if I actually like them they will get canceled.

We record all the new shows that are interesting, but don’t watch them until several weeks in. That way, we don’t invest any time in those shows that last only a handful of shows. If it’s canceled early on, we just delete the shows off the DVR without watching them.

Of course, this works for us because we have 4 DVRs. Yeah, we watch way, way too much TV. Or at least record way too much of it. I’ll get around to actually watching it someday.

I’m excited for Glee, Gossip Girls, Grey’s, The Office (a little…) Modern Family! I have to start watching 30 Rock, don’t I? And Mad Men.

Right now, I’m loving Big Brother, Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I can’t wait for the return of my favourite shows!

Parenthood and The Good Wife both had season finales that made me very excited about the season premieres!

My 12 year old son and I are equally excited about the return of Modern Family, and I don’t think there are too many other things in life that we’re equally excited about!

No more Brothers & Sisters? How am I just hearing about this? I am totally grieving right now.

I also can’t wait for Parenthood and I just started watching that new one on ABC family about the twins who were seperated at birth. Can’t think of the name right now, but it’s pretty good so far.

We don’t have cable anymore, but I’m so excited about them all this year that I’m planning on pushing my husband to let us get it again. I mean, what else am I going to do while nursing a baby 24/7 when she arrives in October!

They pulled the plug on B&S AFTER they aired the season finale. It was some serious bulldonkey.

And yes, you will need cable/satellite and a DVR if you’re nursing.

I’m excited for the return of anything to choose from beyond some Kardashian mix up- but Sons/Jax the most.

But, oh yes, Sons of Anarchy. I started watching for Charlie Hunnam (Jax) but am now ready to leave my husband for the massive, heartbroken Opie. I’ll be your Donna, Ope! (I’m only starting season two now so please don’t tell me if he found a new old lady). Oh God He Is Hot.

I’m looking forward to the return of Grey’s Anatomy, Glee, and Sons of Anarchy. But no more Chord Overstreet on Glee? I couldn’t care less, from what I could tell, he didn’t really bring much game (I skip all of his songs when they come up on my ipod).

I was disappointed that they didn’t bring back Off The Map for a second season; I really liked the show, but they never even gave it a chance to succeed.
